SMS Thuringen
Thüringen was born in the shipyards of Wilhelmshaven in 1909, the third and final vessel of the Helgoland-class battleships. She was commissioned into the German Imperial Navy in 1912, just before the outbreak of World War I. Thüringen's early years were spent patrolling the North Sea, protecting German shores from potential British incursions.
